Jon Bellion, New York’s sensational hip hop, indie rock, R&B and pop artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Rebel Toronto!
Jonathan David 'Jon’ Bellion was born in Lake Grove (New York) in 1990 and he’s a singer, songwriter, producer, and rapper. He loved basketball as a child but his focus shifted to music in junior high school after he started composing music on his brother’s keyboard. After high school, he studied music at Long Island's Five Towns College. He honed his craft and made a name for himself on the music scene there. He had a breakthrough after graduating when he wrote the chorus to Eminem’s and Rihanna’s 2013 duet, The Monster. It won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. He cites Kanye West as his biggest influence and he’s the reason Jon dropped out of college to pursue a career in music. He said in an interview, “I loved everything but it was Kanye West who really changed everything for me”. He was also influenced by Coldplay, John Mayer, André 3000, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Eminem, and J Dilla. He got a record deal with Visionary Music Group and his debut studio album (The Human Condition) came out in June 2016 and hit #5 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
