Kasabian, England’s sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Rebel Toronto!
Kasabian was formed in Leicester (England) in 1997 by vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist Sergio Pizzorno, bassist Chris Edwards, and keyboardist Christopher Karloff. The band’s been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Tom (lead vocals), Sergio (guitar, backing vocals, occasional lead vocals, keyboards, percussion, and electronic programming), Chris (bass), Ian Matthews (drums), and touring members Ben Kealey (keyboard), Gary Alesbrook (trumpet), and Tim Carter (guitar). While their musical style can be broadly classified as indie rock, it also includes elements of electronica (an umbrella term that encompasses a broad group of electronic based styles such as techno, house, ambient, drum and bass, jungle, and industrial dance, among others), electronic rock, and space rock (a subgenre of rock music characterised by slow, lengthy instrumental passages dominated by electronic organs, synthesizers, experimental guitar work and science fiction or outer space-related lyrical themes). They’ve had a stellar career with 6 studio albums (5 of which have topped the UK Albums Chart), 2 live albums, 4 compilation albums, 6 extended plays, 28 music videos, and 22 singles. They’ve received many accolades including a Brit Award (for Best British Group).
