Khalid Robinson was born in Fort Stewart (Georgia) in 1998 and is a singer and songwriter. He was introduced to music at an early age by his mother (who was a singer) and grew up listening to 90s R&B artists such as Brandy and TLC. He studied singing and musical theater in high school and it wasn’t long before he was making his own tracks and posting them online. His musical style is best described as contemporary rhythm and blues (a genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop, and dance) and he cites Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Father John Misty, Frank Ocean, Grizzly Bear, Chance the Rapper, India.Arie, and James Blake as significant influences. His breakthrough came in 2016 with one of his singles (Location) hitting #3 and #8 on Billboard’s Hot R&B and Hip Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts. He released his debut studio album (American Teen) in 2017 and it peaked at #3 on the US Billboard 200 chart. He’s had a stellar career with 1 studio album, 5 singles, and he’s collaborated with Alina Baraz, Logic, Alessia Cara, Calvin Harris, and Future. He also won the 2017 MTVU Woodie Award in the Woodie To Watch category.
