The Descendents, California’s sensational punk rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Rebel Toronto!
The band was formed in Manhattan Beach (California) in 1977 by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo, and drummer Bill Stevenson. 3 years later, they recruited Bill’s friend Milo Aukerman as their lead vocalist to complete the line-up. The band went through some line-up changes over the next 5 years before settling on Milo Aukerman (vocals), Stephen Egerton (guitar), Karl Alvarez (bass guitar), and Bill Stevenson (drums). They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 3 live albums, 3 compilation albums, 4 music videos, 3 EPs, and 3 singles. The Descendents have had a major influence on many of the present-day pop punk and skate punk bands such as The All-American Rejects, NOFX, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Blink-182, Pennywise, Propagandhi, Rise Against, The Bouncing Souls, The Offspring, and The Ataris. Blink-182 vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge said, “Everything about how I sing and play guitar came from this band [...] Blink is absolutely a product of The Descendents.” Spin magazine included their debut album (Milo Goes To College) on many of its lists of noteworthy punk albums such as its 2001 list titled ‘The 50 Most Essential Punk Records’ and its 2004 list of ‘Essential Hardcore’ albums.
